On Saturday, Feb. 2, New York State Police conducted a plain-clothes check of 22 different retail locations around Dutchess County that sell alcohol to ensure their compliance with the state’s Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) laws.
During this enforcement initiative, one individual was found to have violated the ABC laws of the state. Hudson Plaza Wine and Spirits (2585 South Road) employee Kyle P. Oshea, 22, of Poughkeepsie, was arrested for prohibited sale of an alcoholic beverage and first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child, both Class A misdemeanors.
Oshea was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to return to the town of Poughkeepsie Court on Thursday, Feb. 21.
New York State Police stress that underage drinking is associated with the three most common causes of death among youth, including accidental deaths, homicides and suicides. Police will continue to conduct these types of underage drinking enforcement details statewide in an effort to “protect the citizens of New York State and its youth.”
